The Heliophysics Explorer Program conducts Principal Investigator (PI)-led space science investigations to advance NASA's strategic objective in heliophysics, which is to "Understand the Sun and its interactions with the Earth and the solar system, including space weather." NASA announced the science investigations selected for 2022 Heliophysics Small Explorers Step 2 Concept Studies. (NASA Press Release 23-111).
 
September 29, 2023...No MO Investigations Selected
NASA has chosen not to select any of the science investigations for the 2022 Heliophysics Explorer MO to proceed to Phase A Concept Studies.
 
September 28, 2022... The Heliophysics Explorers Program 2022 Small Explorer and MO Preproposal Conference has been postponed due to Hurricane Ian. The Preproposal Conference has been tentatively rescheduled for Thursday, October 6, 2022 pending the operational status of Kennedy Space Center. A revised agenda and times will be posted on https://explorers.larc.nasa.gov/HPSMEX22/prepropconf.html when available.
